Quincy Amarikwa

MLS Forward & UC Davis Alum

Hi my name is Quincy Amarikwa and I was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. Growing up I played many sports, but soccer was the one sport that I had the most love for. Countless hours spent by me and my family, traveling for games, playing, and everything else soccer.

Though both my parents and I sacrificed much time, money and energy in to the game (like most parents and kids do) it almost all ended at high school. Luckily for me however, I went on to get a full ride soccer scholarship to The University Of California Davis. There I excelled on the field and in the classroom, pursuing my degree with a B.S. in The College Of Biological Science EXB.

As well as a soccer standout, setting numerous records. Individually, I was an NSCAA All American, scoring the goal of the year in 2008. 2009 Big West Offensive Player Of The Year. 2009 Big West Leading Goal Scorer and Points Leader (15 goals, 31pts). 2009 NCAA Top 10 Goal Scorer In The Country. And collectively UC Davis' Mens Soccer earned 2 bids in the NCAA tournament, the first in the schools history!

Where I went on to have a very successful rookie campaign that saw me make 25 appearances. I have also had success with other Major League Soccer teams. Of recent, I was a member of the Colorado Rapids team that won MLS Cup and Eastern Conference Championship in 2010. Had a brief stint with the New York Red Bulls. 2012 Concacaf Champions with Toronto FC. And most recently am the team leading goal scorer for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club.

If I hadn't gotten lucky to be seen late in my recruiting process, I would have never gone to play collegiately and eventually professionally. The only reason I wasn't noticed or recruited earlier was all because both my father and I had no clue as to how the recruiting process actually worked. This is the reason Ross and I created this site, so kids like me who have the drive and ability to play collegiately aren't denied their chance just because they don't know the right ways to go about getting recruited.
